Notes About License Keys

  • A license key is 5 characters long. It may contain letters, numbers, and the '@' symbol.
  • A license key can only be used on the library to which it is assigned and cannot be transferred to another library.
  • License keys do not expire.
  • The license key is associated with the serial number of the 5U Library Control Module. If you must replace your 5U Control Module, you need to request a replacement license key.
  • If you replace your Library Control Blade (LCB) compact flash card, you must reinstall your existing license key(s).
  • For more information, see your library User's Guide.

About Your Capacity on Demand License

To increase the number of usable slots in your library, you can purchase a Capacity on Demand (COD) license key. COD license keys come in 46-slot increments. For example, a 14U library could have 87 slots licensed (41 + 46 = 87) at the time of the initial purchase. The remaining 46 slots can be enabled at a later time by purchasing and applying a COD license key. The full 133 slots would then be enabled and available for use. It is possible to license more slots than are physically available in the library at the time. In that case, when 9U Expansion Modules are added, the extra licensed slots become available for use. For more information about the COD licensed feature, please reference your User’s Guide.
